Common Massage Questions:
1. How much water should I drink before a massage?
It’s recommended to have at least 16 oz. of water before and after a massage treatment.
2. Am I supposed to tip?
If you get a massage at a spa or hotel, a 15% to 20% tip is standard if you were pleased with the services. There are no real ground rules when it comes to massage in a medial setting.
3. Can I talk during my massage?
Some people prefer to talk throughout a massage, don’t feel like you have to make conversation. Feel free to close your eyes and relax. Some types of massage require more feedback like deep tissue and sports massage. Be sure to speak up if the room is too hot or too cool. If you experience pain let your massage therapist know immediately.
4. What type of clothing should I leave on?
Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others prefer to be nude. It’s completely up to you. However, if your problem areas are your lower back, hips, buttocks, or groin, tight-fitting underwear can get in the way of the massage work. Keep in mind that only the area being massaged will be uncovered.
